Scholarships and Fellowships

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

  • Who: Sophomores and Juniors interested in a career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering
  • What: Up to $7,500 per year (two years for sophomores and one year for juniors)
  • Deadline: Late January
  • Note: Active research project expected (contact me several months in advance of the deadline if you are interested in working together)

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

  • Who: Seniors planning to pursue a graduate degree in a scientific field
  • What: Up to $45,000 per year for three years
  • Deadline: Mid November
  • Note: Active research project expected (contact me several months in advance of the deadline if you are interested in working together)

Knowles Science Teaching Foundation Fellowship

  • Who: Juniors and seniors planning to pursue career in secondary STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) education
  • What: Various stipends and professional development opportunities over a five-year period
  • Deadline: Mid October

Budapest Semesters in Mathematics

  • Who: Everyone
  • What: Spend a semester or summer in Budapest learning from some of the best mathematicians in the world
  • Deadline: Early April for fall semester, Early November for spring semester, Early March for Summer semester

Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education

  • Who: Majors interested in high school mathematics education
  • What: Spend a semester or summer in Budapest observing and participating in their world-class mathematics education
  • Deadline: Early April for fall semester, Early November for spring semester, Early March for Summer semester

Math in Moscow

  • Who: Everyone
  • What: Spend a semester in Moscow learning cutting edge mathematics
  • Deadline: Late March for fall semester, Late September for spring semester

Research Experience / Internships

National Security Agency Director's Summer Program

  • Who: Juniors or Seniors with experience in algebra/analysis and computer programming
  • What: Summer internship at the NSA solving problems in mathematics, cryptology, and communications technology
  • Deadline: Mid to late October

Intelligence Careers

  • Who: Everyone
  • What: Research and internship opportunities in intelligence with United States governmental agencies (NSA, FBI, CIA, etc.)
